Ponce Shines, Shuts Out Indiana, 1-0
Saturday, July 7th , 2063
Before the game, Tony Ponce said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Indiana Fields, the Otters pitcher blanked the Indiana Ironmen 1-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Ponce said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my fastball even when I was behind in the count."
The Oakdale starter held Indiana scoreless, giving up 3 hits while registering 4 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Ironmen manager Harrison Schmidt said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
This season Ponce has worked 104.1 innings with 102 strikeouts en route to a 5-4 record and a 2.59 ERA.
