Arakaki Blasts 3 out of the Park Thursday, July 5th , 2063 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Yozaburo Arakaki swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Assassins Ballpark, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins were better. The Atlantic City Assassins couldn't capitalize on the big game from Arakaki and dropped the contest 9-6. The mood in the Assassins clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Penguins to spoil the day for Arakaki. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Atlantic City manager Brad Hurst said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Arakaki collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Atlantic City left fielder told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Yozaburo Arakaki hit a two-run home run off Jorge Ramirez in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jorge Ramirez in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, struck out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Jose Ortiz in the 9th. This season in 85 games Arakaki is batting .297 with 24 home runs, 64 RBIs and has scored 57 times. |
